The adventure actually started back in the spring of 2021 when we acquired this traditional Norwegian wooden open double ended boat – Kogge. After a summer getting acquainted with her, we decided to refit her with a brand new (old) FM engine. We then shipped her over to Martha’s Vineyard, USA, where she spent the winter in the care of our friends at Gannon & Benjamin Marine Railway. In the last days of April we arrived Martha’s Vineyard, spent a few days getting her ready for sea – and the adventure ahead.
Scraping and sanding down decks and sides, several layers of varnish, new rodder, sealing the biggest cracks with cotton and putty – a more than 70 year old lady requires some love and care to be back in shape!
