BOILED WOOL: WINDPROOF COMFORT

A boiled wool sweater, hat, or sock is produced in the same traditional method that has been used for centuries in Austria – advantaging outdoor enthusiasts with its reliable warmth and unique windproof density. Boiled wool is not only derived from a sustainable and all-natural source (sheep), but it is also manufactured without added chemicals and remains 100% recyclable.

Naturally, wool offers at least 10% more breathability to the wearer when compared to other performance-oriented materials derived from synthetics. Wool is naturally water resistant, and next to waterproof and windproof when designed via the boiled wool method. Even when wet, wool continued to insulate, unlike down-filled insulating layers. Wool is also extremely durable and naturally rugged in tough mountain environments.
