ORGANIC PERFORMANCE
SUBTLE IN SIGHT AND SOUND
In line with our philosophy of ‘Innovation through Tradition’, the Peak Cotton Shell blends the tried & true comfort of BCI Pima organic cotton with the market-leading advancement of our Nanotechnology Electrospun Membrane. This hybrid design philosophy allows you to move silently through nature in natural comfort, while maintaining the confidence that you’re prepared for the worst the alpine can throw your way.
This 3-layer fabric exemplifies both the future of textiles and the core of Amundsen’s philosophy, by offering harmonious blend of nature’s comfort and the progress of nanotechnology - making it an ideal choice for ski touring and outdoor activities.
WHAT IS BCI PIMA COTTON?
BCI Pima cotton is a high-quality, sustainable cotton sourced through the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI). Known for its long fibers, Pima cotton offers exceptional softness, durability, and breathability, making it ideal for outdoor apparel. BCI certification supports responsible farming practices, minimizes environmental impact, and promotes fair working conditions.
OUTER LAYER
The surface layer is crafted from stretch cotton - prized for its natural softness, breathability, and climatic adaptability. This layer ensures that the fabric conforms seamlessly to the wearer’s movements, all while exuding the timeless appeal of classic cotton.
THE MEMBRANE
The core of this fabric's innovation lies in its Microporous Electrospun Membrane. Through the process of ‘electrospinning’, nanofibers are intertwined to form a porousweb-like structure. While being ultra-thin and breathable, this membrane functions as an exceptional elemental barrier. This unique interplay of features strikes the perfect balance between protection and breathability, creating a new ‘gold standard’ for organic fiber-based performance outwear.
INNER LAYER
While retaining the inherent softness of cotton, this layer also integrates moisture-wicking capabilities. This interplay of features ensures the wearer remains dry and comfortable, even in demanding conditions.
WATERPROOF VS. BREATHABILITY
Protection from the elements while you are outside is essential. The key to comfort in harsh climates is staying dry and warm, which means having waterproof and breathable outerwear. Striking this balance will vary depending on where you’re going and how you’re getting there. For more information on how to pick out the gear for the job, read our waterproof guide here.
GARMENT CARE
If you notice that the fabric of your jacket or pants is absorbing rather than repelling water, it means you'll have to reproof it.
› MACHINE WASH 40° C (104° F)
› CLOSE ALL ZIPPERS AND VELCRO´S BEFORE WASHING
› DO NOT BLEACH
› DO NOT TUMBLE DRY
