WINTER LAYERING GUIDE
With the frost covering our windows and the snow pilling up in the yard we’re pulling out all the layers to stay warm this winter. Lots of wool and down and don’t forget a few neck warmers.
SKI TOURING
In the alpine It all starts will a quality base layer—a piece that will live next to you and provide the foundation for warmth. We like wool, as it keeps you warm and doesn’t retain odor. Next, a lightweight mid layer—packable but with some warmth. Breathable on the uphill and thin enough to throw your shell over on the downhill.
Finally, an outer shell for when the wind picks up or making quick descents. It needs to be light, protect against wind and snow, and breathe when building up heat while bounding down the mountain.

FOR THE PISTE DAYS
For those cold days at the resort consider a warmer, larger jacket. Something that will keep you cozy while on the lift or standing in line. Underneath, a wool sweater or vest can add just right amount of warmth. And don’t forget a neck warmer, a quality pair of mittens, and a canteen of hot coco to make it all the way to closing.
