Description

The wool in this sweater is harvested from free-ranging sheep living the high-life up in the Norwegian mountains of Hallingdal from June to September. After the harvest, it respectfully spun and knitted in Italy. The tough fibers from the Norwegian sheep are developed to withstand the rugged climate which gives this sweater just the right weight and protection for us enjoying the same rugged territory. Some claim it itches a bit more than our soft merino wool styles but real adventurers won’t mind.
Inspired by Roald Amundsen and other heroes from the golden age of exploration, we have applied a chest pocket in waxed cotton – the kind of convenient feature the old explorers would sew themselves while in camp.

Nice and thick wool sweater!
If you aren’t used to regular norwegian wool, be prepared! This sweater will be a bit coarser than something made oit of merino wool. It also has a faint smell of sheep, which in my opinion is really nice.
The cut is quite long, so it will fit taller guys well.
I’m 183cm tall and vary between 71kg and 75kg throughout the year and my M size sweater is nice for all points of that weight journey.

The sweater is warm, fitted, with long sleeves. I’m 195 cm tall and 95 kg weight, the XL size is fully enough.
The wool is a little scratchy so it is good to put any shirt below and not wear in hot/warm days. The pocket on the chest is versatile but it could have the fabric on both sides. Now when you put inside the keys or other sharp objects, it can hook/stick on the inner wool side of the pocket.

This sweater was on my Christmas list, and I got it.
This sweater is superb. I have used it for backcountry skiing, building a quinzee and sleeping in it, shovelling snow, and other outdoor activities in -20 C to -40 C weather in Northern Ontario. With a synthetic short sleeve against the skin layer, a long sleeve 200 – 300 merino base layer, under an anorak shell, I found this sweater to be as warm as some heavier weight wool sweaters for cold weather activities. The wool is relatively soft and does not itch, only when working up a sweat does it get a little scratchy. However, those with sensitive skin may not like it. The front pocket looks cool and is actually functional. I use it to store gear I don’t want to freeze like a compact camera or my handheld gps. The gps is a bit heavy in the pocket, but it is easy to access. The description says that it runs large, but this is not my experience. I would not want it any smaller, especially in the chest and under the arms (I am 182 cm and weight between 70 and 73 kg and have the M). Only negative, because of the roll neck this sweater may have to be washed more often than you would a wool sweater, at least the neck part.
