About Emma

Emma is the full time first mate and boat captain aboard ICEBEAR—a 59′ Swan. To date, she has sailed over 10,000 miles on ICEBEAR as mate and completed her first trans-Atlantic passage nonstop from Maine to Ireland in August 2021. She joined the 59 North team in 2019 after graduating from Kenyon College where she studied environmental science. She taught sailing for 8 years on the Hudson River and has also spent time there working with Riverkeeper and sailing her own boat. Emma has also spent a semester abroad sailing with SEA off the coast of New Zealand.
