a wooden boat adventure
Along the way, we faced unpredictable weather, including a famous “NorthEaster” that stranded us in Montauk for two days. This forced a creative detour inland, allowing Fram Jr. to continue her journey through the shallow backwaters of Long Island. Nights were spent camping by empty docks, cooking over driftwood fires, and soaking in the off-season calm.
Reaching New York Harbor brought a surreal mix of sights—from the Statue of Liberty to dodging ferries under the Brooklyn Bridge. A highlight included scrambling to get a crewmember to his flight, and an unexpected encounter with a floating pig in the Hudson.
After eight days at sea, Fram Jr. completed her voyage by being trailered through the Holland Tunnel and parked in front of the Amundsen shop in Nolita. The celebration - complete with a saxophonist playing from the boat—was the perfect end to a true Field Testing Adventure.
